SOCIAL SKILLS GROUP
Positive Synergy offers a variety of social skills groups for learners ages 3-21 years old. Learners are grouped together by age (within 2 years of each other) and by developmental level. Goals are individualized and are based on assessment scores, the parent vision statement and a participant questionnaire. Goals typically fall under the following domains: early social responding, social motivation, initiation & reciprocity, toy play & leisure, social play, group learning, adaptability & flexibility, self-regulation & managing emotions, non-verbal communication, cooperation & teamwork, sportsmanship, speaking & listening, perspective taking, social conflict resolution, friendships, and self-advocacy.
Program of Early Enrichment at Positive Synergy (PEEPS) is a social skills group that is set up to resemble a preschool. There are three tiers to PEEPS: Baby PEEPS (for children ages 2-3 years old), Little PEEPS (for children ages 3-4 years old), and PEEPS (for children ages 4-6 years old). Duration and frequency of sessions increases as children progress through the tiers. Goals are individualized and are based on assessment scores and the parent vision statement. Goals typically center around self-advocacy skills, group learning skills and social play.
The School Readiness program at Positive Synergy was designed to help children develop skills needed to prepare them to enter a school setting. Goals are individualized and are based on assessment scores, the parent vision statement, and recommendations from our SLPs and OTs. Goals typically center around engagement in group structured activities, self-regulation skills, and pre-academic work.
