SOCIAL SKILLS GROUP
Are you looking for your child to attend a social skills group that is based on ABA methodologies and evidence based practices? Well look no further!
Positive Synergy prides itself in offering quality social skills groups for children ages 4-13. Children are placed in groups with peers who are close in age and are working toward similar goals. To develop goals and targets, a BCBA will provide both individual assessments and in-group direct observations to develop an individualized program that will target the specific needs of your child. Many goals fall under specific domains relating to: cooperative play, sportsmanship, emotional regulation, cognitive flexibility, self-advocacy, social communication, perspective taking, and problem solving/conflict resolution.
Evidence based methodologies, such as, behavioral skills training and natural environment teaching are heavily utilized during group to make sure that skills are being taught effectively and also generalized to the natural environment. Fun and engaging activities used to teach these skills include: board games, conversation games, a variety of play activities, and “free time” in which the children demonstrate newly acquired skills without intensive support from instructors.
Older learners are also encouraged to attend our community outings (i.e. bowling, going out for ice cream, mini golf, etc.) with their peers and instructors in order to make sure skills are generalizing to the community and also as a fun reward for all of their hard work. Social skills groups are a great way to help your child build the skills needed to make lasting and meaningful relationships with their peers.
We are currently enrolling kids ages 4-7!
We are also currently enrolling kids ages 8-13!
Summer camps are offered throughout the summer for children of all ages, skill levels, and behavioral needs. Children are grouped together so that they attend our camps with peers of a similar age and skill level. Positive Synergy aims to give a true camp experience, but with the additional support of BCBAs and RBTs to help facilitate engagement in activities, peer interactions, and individual needs.
A wide range of activities are offered such as: playing in our water slide, interacting with Seekonk fire department with our touch the truck activities, or even heading on a field trip to the zoo! Every year brings something new and exciting based on the interests of our campers and their individual goals.
Positive Synergy offers developmental playgroups for early learners ages 2-6. Developmental playgroups are run by a BCBA and two RBTs who help facilitate functional play, language, and early social interaction between peers.
Positive Synergy is dedicated to teaching through play and uses evidence based practices such as natural environment teaching, incidental teaching, modeling and positive reinforcement throughout group to make learning a fun and interactive experience. Activities utilized to target individual goals related to play, communication, and social awareness include: circle time, cause and effect play, early imaginative play, simple games, sensory activities, and movement activities. Developmental playgroups are the perfect way to help your child learn through play and develop the early skills needed to navigate successful peer interactions.
